Following the announcement in the November edition of the NARPO News of the retirement of our Benefits Advice Consultant, Angela Maxwell, we have made alternative arrangement to provide members with this service. No pension increase this year - 2009/2010
RPI in September is a minus figure and cosequently our pensions will not rise this year.
Alan Greaves at Cardiff has raised the question of whether this minus figure will be taken into account when our pensions are reviewed in 2010. As yet he has not had a reply.

Police Pension Payments
Later this year, Police Pensions will be paid out by a private company called CAPITA - who will take over this function from Rhondda Cynon Taff. We have been assured that there is nothing for us to worry about and this company already carry out this function for other large Forces.
The November pension paid at the end of October 2009 will be dealt with by the R.C.T, but the December pension paid at the end of November 2009 will be dealt with by ‘Capita’. The only change you should notice is the heading and perhaps format of the payslip. (Aug 2009)

Commutation factor for retiring officers (Sept 2008)
You may already be aware that that the commutation factor for retiring officers has recently been changed to bring male and female officers to the same level.
This was backdated to 1st October 2007 and has caused a lot of bad feeling, especially amongst officers still serving under the 30 plus scheme.
Obviously, all recently retired officers are querying the cut off date and want to know if it can be extended backwards.

Also, a retired GMP officer Steve Clough has circulated an email amongst his ex colleagues suggesting they petition their ex Chief Constable on the grounds of  discrimination. This is currently circulating around retired officers in South Wales some of whom have approached me asking me for details and advice.

The letter from Narpo HQ covers these matters in detail, and will be of interest to a lot of members.
